How to manage big emotions
Kids have little bodies and big emotions. This is because the prefrontal cortex of their brain isn’t developed enough yet to plan their next move and to think about their actions before crying, throwing, kicking, hitting, or biting.
This A4 pdf is a simple to follow stop and think behaviour management technique.
Tearing paper provides the body with sensory input as well as stress relief through a ripping sensation.
Scrunching up a paper ball gives us permission to be destructive and the throwing action gives our body the proprioception that it needs (instead of hitting).
